Frequently Asked Questions

Please see below for answers to questions that students often ask us.

All lessons are taught 1-on-1 with a dedicated tutor. This ensures that you receive your tutor’s full attention & can make fast progress. Each lesson lasts either 30 or 45 minutes and is taught via Microsoft Teams, allowing you to communicate with your tutor & share learning materials as if you were in the same room. Normally, the tutor will first assess your level and discuss your goals with you. Then they will adapt the lessons to suit your individual needs. Many students choose to take 1-on-1 lessons to improve their speaking skills. However, tutors can also help with other skills such as grammar & listening, as well as specific challenges such as using the language at work, passing exams, preparing for interviews etc.
All of the tutors on our site can teach students with any level and with all sorts of different needs (work, travel, exams, interviews etc.).
You can learn at a pace that you’re comfortable with – it’s completely up to you when and how often you take lessons however, the prices vary regarding how many classes per week you book. Our tutors are available Monday to Thursday from 10am until 9pm.
Depending on which package you choose, a lesson lasts for either 30 or 45 minutes. This suits most people as it allows for a lot to be covered whilst also being short enough to squeeze into busy lives! If you really want to take longer lessons, you can simply book two lessons back to back, meaning you will have one and a half hours.
Please note: Unless a schedule change has been agreed to by the teacher, classes will always finish at the designated time. For example: if you have booked a class from 18:00-18:45 and you login for the class 15 minutes late, the class will still end at 18:45.
Microsoft Teams is the default technology used. Microsoft Teams is free and perfect for language learning. This allows you to do everything you would do in a classroom: read, write, speak, listen and share learning materials. You can download TEAMS from the following link: Microsoft Teams
Our tutors prefer to use just audio as this prevents distractions and helps you to focus your mind on the language. Using only audio is also advantageous for people who have weaker connections.
No, you won’t need to – your tutor will share materials with you online using Google Drive.
To take lessons, all you’ll need is the following:
  1. A good internet connection.
  2. A free Microsoft Teams account
  3. A laptop, tablet or smartphone. Most people will find that the speakers and microphone on their device are sufficient. However, occasionally students choose to use a headset or headphones with a microphone in order to enhance the sound quality. You won’t have to buy any books!
  4. Optional, but recommended! Google Drive for access to our learning materials and a record of your lessons. For this you will need a Gmail address.
As long as you and your learning partner both have the same level and are in the same room, tutors will usually be fine with teaching you together (and the cost will be the same). When you book and fill in your details, just make it clear that there are two of you, then the tutor will let you know if there are any issues.
Teenagers sometimes learn with a tutor in order to support their school/college studies. Often, the student shares their school materials with their tutor via Google Drive and the lessons either follow these materials or cover related topics. We always require permission to be given by parents, who should also give their child’s age and describe their needs when booking the lessons.
If you wish to cancel or reschedule a lesson, please let us know at least 8 hours before the scheduled lesson through WhatsApp. If less than 8 hours are remaining before your lesson, you will not be able to reschedule or cancel the lesson. This rule exists to respect tutors’ time and working conditions. For example, if a student were able to cancel on the day of a lesson, the tutor would be unable to teach another student and regain the lost income.
Your tutor will assess your language level and discuss your specific learning goals during the first lesson. This helps us determine your strengths and weaknesses enabling us to customise the lessons based on your level.
If cancellation or rescheduling were permitted right before a lesson it would not be fair to tutors as they would be unable to teach another student in the time they’d given up and this would hurt their income. Tutors are not high earners and need some form of protection.
Booking lessons and determining times and dates is done through our WhatsApp account. If you have a regular schedule of lessons per week please let us know, before the end of the month, if you wish to continue for the next month so as to guarantee your time slots.
The start page on the ‘Learners Lounge’ section on our platform shows you all your upcoming lessons for the month. These pages are exclusively for our students. After you have booked your first lessons we will provide you with a username and password to access this area. If you have problems accessing these pages or you do not have your login details, please contact us through WhatsApp and we will send them to you.
We offer some of the most competitive prices on the internet. For a quickfire 30 minute conversation class the price is €12. For those who need more intensive lessons the price is €14 per 45 minute class for two or more sessions per week. An individual class of 45 minutes costs €17. Classes are booked in advance on a monthly basis through WhatsApp. Once you have booked the classes we will send you your schedule.  Should a student not be able to take a class (after giving us sufficient notice), then these classes will be carried over to the next month.
Classes are always paid in advance. Once classes have been reserved for the student for that month, the payment must be made before the start of the first class. Payment is possible through bank transfer or instant mobile transfer (Bizum). Further details are available on request.
If you book a lesson but don’t turn up to it, your tutor will lose time when they could have been teaching someone else and therefore they still need to be paid. So, unfortunately if you miss your lesson you will lose that lesson. In place of the missed class our tutor will send you an exercise to complete which we will then evaluate before the next lesson. If you think you may not be able to attend a lesson, you can reschedule up to 8 hours before your lesson by informing us on WhatsApp.
